Emma + Bryan

There is something so special about photographing couples in places that hold memories for them. Emma and Bryan’s Topsail Island engagement session was exactly that! From the sandy shores of Topsail’s beaches to one of their favorite local spots, The Trailer Bar, both locations told a piece of their story. Even with the strong coastal winds, the weather could not have been more beautiful, and these two made every moment together look effortless.

The Trailer Bar

One of my favorite parts of every engagement session is learning more about each couple’s love story. For Emma and Bryan, The Trailer Bar isn’t just a fun place to grab a drink. It’s where their relationship began. Emma worked there and it is where she met Bryan. Being able to return to the place where it all started made their engagement session feel more personal and meaningful.

I always encourage couples to choose locations that are significant to them and help tell their story. Years from now these photos will become more than just beautiful pictures on the wall. They become memories of the places that shaped their story.

The Beach

If you’ve ever visited the North Carolina coast, then you know that beach weather can change in an instant. One moment its calm with a light breeze and the next a strong wind may come through and pelt you with sand. Although we spent much of the session battling the wind, we had such a great time laughing and enjoying the gorgeous coastal light.

The movement in Emma’s hair and dress gave so many of their images a romantic and carefree feeling that fit them perfectly. Sometimes the unexpected conditions can create the most authentic moments.

The Engagement Session

Some couples naturally settle into one another, and Emma and Bryan are exactly that kind of couple. Every glance, laugh, and quiet moment together showed just how much they adore each other. Photographing them felt less like directing a session and more like documenting genuine moments as they enjoyed an evening together in one of their favorite places.

Their joy, kindness, and excitement for this next chapter were contagious, and I left the session even more excited for their wedding day.

The Countdown is On!

After spending the evening with Emma and Bryan on Topsail Island, I honestly cannot wait for their November wedding. If their engagement session is any indication, their wedding day is going to be filled with so much laughter, genuine emotion, and beautiful moments surrounded by the people they love most.
