Something I love about my job is that I get to photograph different seasons of my clients’ lives. I photographed Ally and Timmy’s wedding a few years ago so when she reached out to me with the news that they were expecting their first little one, I was thrilled! She booked one of my Bump to Baby packages, which meant that I would get to document this incredibly exciting chapter for their growing family. The package Ally chose included a Lifestyle Newborn Session.
Baby Landon
Landon is the sweetest little boy, and it was so much fun getting to meet him and photograph his first days at home. There is something about photographing a newborn in their own home that makes the images feel so much more personal. Instead of simply creating beautiful portraits, we are documenting where your baby’s story actually began.
The little details that make your home your home become part of the story, too. And Landon’s nursery was definitely worth documenting!
The Cutest Little Nursery
One of my favorite parts of a Lifestyle Newborn Session is photographing the nursery and all the little details. The room was absolutely adorable, with a beautiful teal accent wall featuring a geometric wood design. The natural wood crib and furniture added so much warmth to the space, while the bookshelves filled with colorful children’s books made the room feel personal and playful. And of course, the cozy rocking chair was the perfect spot for those sweet newborn snuggles.
Those little things may seem insignificant now, but someday they’ll be part of the memories Ally and Timmy look back on when they remember what it was like bringing Landon home.
From Bride + Groom to Mom + Dad
I know I said it before, but it brings me so much joy documenting the different life stages of my clients. When you photograph a wedding, you are documenting the beginning of one chapter. But sometimes, you get lucky enough to stick around for the next ones.
Getting to photograph Ally and Timmy again, this time as parents, was incredibly special. You could already see how much love they have for their little boy. I know that they are going to be the best parents to Landon.
Why I love Lifestyle Newborn Sessions
In-home lifestyle newborn photography is a fantastic way to document those first days with a new baby.
You don’t have to pack up your newborn, diaper bag, feeding supplies, extra clothes, and approximately 47 things you think you might need and drive somewhere unfamiliar.
Instead, I come to you.
Your baby gets to stay in the environment where they are most comfortable, and I can photograph all of those little moments that naturally happen at home.
That might mean cuddling in the nursery, rocking your baby in their favorite chair, snuggling together on the bed, or simply capturing tiny details like their fingers, toes, eyelashes, and sleepy expressions.
And don’t worry if your house isn’t “Pinterest perfect.” It doesn’t need to be.
Your newborn session is about your family, not creating a perfectly styled home.
